👤 About Me 个人简介

I am currently a Professor at the College of Intelligence and Computing (opens new window), Tianjin University, a position I have held since 2025. Prior to this, I served as an Associate Professor at Tianjin University from 2023 to 2024. Before joining academia, I was a Researcher at Huawei 2012 Laboratories' Hong Kong Theory Lab (2022-2023) and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the PEIlab (opens new window) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (2019-2022). I earned both my Ph.D. (2019) and B.Eng. (2013) degrees in Computer Science from Dalian University of Technology.

My research area includes Internet of Things(IoT) and Edge AI, with a particular focus on Mobile Sensing, and Federated learning.

Frequency-and Orientation-related Phase Fingerprints for RFID Tag Authentication (opens new window)

K Zhang, J Zhang, X Xie*, X Tong, X Liu, K Li

In Proceedings of IEEE SECON 2022, CCF-B, best paper candidate

Contribution: We are the first to uses the phase values of tags at different frequencies and orientations to construct physical-layer fingerprints to eliminate the influence of environmental factors.

Federated unlearning via class-discriminative pruning (opens new window)

J Wang, S Guo, X Xie*, H Qi

In Proceedings of ACM Web Conference 2022, CCF-A

Contribution: We are the first to uses the channel pruning to achive class-level unlearning solution in federated learning scenario.

Protect Privacy from Gradient Leakage Attack in Federated Learning (opens new window)

J Wang, S Guo, X Xie*, H Qi

In Proceedings of IEEE INFOCOM 2022, CCF-A

Contribution: We present a novel defense method, whose intuition is perturbing gradients to match information leakage risk such that the defense overhead is lightweight while privacy protection is adequate.

A Lightweight Integrity Authentication Approach for RFID-enabled Supply Chains (opens new window)

X Xie, X Liu, S Guo, H Qi, K Li

In Proceedings of IEEE INFOCOM 2021, CCF-A

Contribution: We present a lightweight tag group authentication method, which can store fingerpirnt on certain key tag memory for effective tag authentication.
